Introducing Champions Place @ Home!
Our mission at Champions Community Foundation (CCF) is to empower young adults with physical challenges to reach their full potential for independence and belonging.
Working with Georgia Tech, Google and other technology partners, we have successfully implemented a portfolio of assistive technologies at Champions Place that enable the residents to be more self-reliant. To be true to our mission and share this best practice with our own Titan community, CCF has packaged these technologies into a program called Champions Place @ Home. This package will enable a physically challenged individual to independently perform a variety of functions in their residence via voice activation, mobile apps, and/or other adaptive technologies.
Core Offering:
Google Nest Hub Max (central control units) with video screen, camera, and microphone
Google Hub Mini
Smart switches and plugs- to control lights, fan and other appliances
Google Chromecast - to control Smart TV(s), if available in the home.
Google Nest Thermostat – to control inside temperature (if HVAC unit is compatible).
Google Nest Doorbell - to view who is at the door and speak with them
The core offering alone will enable physically challenged young adults to perform many tasks independently via voice, including turning on and off lights, fans, and TVs; adjusting their thermostat; playing music or audio books and controlling the volume and even calling their family or caregiver via the intercom capability for assistance.
In addition to the day to day living features, Champions Place @ Home participants will be able to stay connected to friends and family through the video chat and calling features afforded by their Google Hub.
We are inspired and excited by this next phase of empowerment afforded to our Champions & Titans community. Thank you for your support which makes this life changing initiative possible.
