THE POWER OF TOGETHERNESS
SEPTEMBER 2024
One of the core values of Champions Community Foundation is to combat loneliness by offering opportunities for social interaction, community, and friendships. Everyone wants to belong...and we offer 30 in-person events each year for these special young adults to be together - bi-weekly wheelchair sports, Halloween and Christmas parties...and our annual Titan Game Day, Movie Day and Baseball Outing to name a few. Lasting friendships are formed and the loneliness melts away - the atmosphere at these gatherings are as close as we'll get to experiencing Heaven on Earth.
In late July, we held our third annual Game Day at Mt. Pisgah Church, where we welcomed 35 Titans and their families for a day of Blackjack, Roulette, and Bingo...play money of course! There's nothing more enjoyable than gathering around a table for a bit of friendly competition and “placing your bets”!
Check out the joy on their faces - all made possible by your support. Thank you!
“After a decade of being the only wheelchair in the room, I cannot describe how fun it was to do something with other disabled people. If you're on the fence about attending, make a point to go. I promise you won't regret it!”
— Brett Chance
“I enjoy the in-person events because I don't have a lot of friends who have disabilities and the Titan family makes me feel included. I also enjoy the fellowship and being able to engage in activities that are wheelchair friendly.”
— Britt Ivey
“I get sick of being home some days and I like outings where my friends will be - I love getting to see my friends and play with them!”
— Lexi Kaiser
“I always enjoy in-person events because it means I get to be with my friends that I wouldn’t maybe otherwise see. I think gathering together and spending quality time together is important!”
— Adam Laarhoven
One of the most special components to our in-person events is that they attract members of our Titan Family from a little farther than the direct Atlanta area.
One Titan, Drew Daniels, drove over an hour to be there!
“I usually can’t make it to the scrimmages because I live far away, so the special in-person events are crucial because they allow me to see my friends. I loved being at the Titan Game Day because I got to use my communication skills and engage in competition during the games.”
— Drew Daniels
Because of your support, we’re able to continue hosting events that provide opportunities for our Titans to have fun with their friends
