WONDERFULLY MADE
BY WAYNE HILLIS
Sometimes when we talk about the Titan "community," people only think about the Titans themselves. For us, community is so much more. Our families support one another, fellowship together at scrimmages, and share all the joys and triumphs as one. One of our parents captured the true nature of his son’s life as a Titan in a poem and has given us permission to share with you. May you be as blessed by Mr. Wayne Hills as we were.
WONDERFULLY MADE
By Wayne Hillis, a Titan Dad
Wayne and Will Hillis
Will opening a gift at the Titan Christmas Party
Will playing bingo with his caregiver at the Titan Game Day
They all roll in or hobble slow
With a smile upon their face
They reach the court with a warm hello
And ready for another Titans day.
They circle up for just a bit
To hear the Wise Guys’ words
In chairs they have to sit
Yet still they praise the Lord.
They bow their heads until amen
Then to the court they roll
A chance at normal once again
True medicine for the soul.
They don their Titan shirts with pride
A good word on the arm
With blue and red the coaches divide
Now the teams are formed.
A word from Coach Rick and the ball’s in play
Another episode in his dream
Brook, Matt, Paul, Tony and Jay coach the way
What an incredible team!
The music plays above the game
Their smiles drift up the stands
Having fun is the only aim
They’re allowed to use their hands.
Up and down the court they go
The ball upon their lap
Turn or drive around the foe
Find the magic gap.
Then throw or push the sacred ball
Toward the guarded goal
Through the goalie’s armed wall
The shot will find a hole.
With the score tied, the horn blows
Time to take a break
One more half yet to go
More memories yet to make.
Some can roll or drive their chair
While others need a push
Up and down the court they tear
To the goal they rush.
The final horn ends the game
With the score always tied
No doubt each is wonderfully made
And God is by their side.
