VOLUNTEERS:
THE HEARTBEAT behind EVERYTHING WE DO!

At Champions Community Foundation, volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. From assisting in our wheelchair sports scrimmages to providing meals for residents, driving the Champions Place van, and everything in between, the handprints of our faithful volunteers are on everything we do.

Check out the finished Cardinal paintings - created by our talented Champions Place residents (artists)!

Last month, volunteers Julie Hislop and Michelle Cornwall led a painting event for the residents of Champions Place. Michelle, a professional artist, guided the residents as they each painted a cardinal.

However, the process wasn’t about following a strict design; Michelle encouraged everyone to add their own unique flair, allowing their personalities to shine through in each piece. As Michelle explained, “There’s no right or wrong in painting—beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. Each painting created by the residents is perfect in its own way. They can create something they’re proud of that will last forever.”

Julie also shared, “We love how we can see everyone’s personality come out in their paintings. Sarah loves to use polka dots to finish her painting. One resident loves to use purple, so she used it for her background.”

The residents also recognize the impact and value of our volunteers, and their appreciation speaks volumes. Julie shared, “We were barely finished with the first session when so many asked, ‘When are you coming back?’ Josh even requested we paint a beach scene in the future.” Similar sentiments are felt by everyone each time volunteers join us, no matter the capacity. We know that without the dedication of volunteers like Julie and Michelle, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish even a fraction of what we do.

We are deeply grateful for every volunteer and the incredible impact they make
in the lives of our Champions Family every time they show up.
