COACH CONN HOSTS A DANCE PARTY FOR THE TITANS

July 6, 2020 — Recently about 40 Titans, coaches, and friends joined the “Largest Titan Dance Party Ever” via Zoom, to have fun and see each other’s faces. Everyone had a great time! What was intended to be only 30 minutes went on for 1 hour, and 20 minutes, so I guess it was a blast!

HELPING OTHERS FIND THEIR VOICE

April 20, 2020 — Kylie Moore, a leader within the Titan Community and a soon-to-be resident of Champions Place, has been awarded the 2020 Tom Miller Advocacy Award from SourceAmerica, a national leader in creating employment opportunities and choices for people with disabilities. The Tom Miller Advocacy Award recognizes a person with a significant disability who has demonstrated outstanding and remarkable passion and leadership for self-advocacy on a local or national level.

As the founder and coordinator of the Bobby Dodd Institute’s Advocacy Program in Atlanta, GA, Kylie helps others with disabilities build strong communication and public speaking skills, gain a better understanding of themselves and their disabilities, improve self-esteem, and discover their strengths. When not in the classroom, Kylie is active in helping educate local and national policymakers on the employment of individuals with physical disabilities.

After graduating from Reinhardt University (‘10, Psychology) and post-graduate studies with the Partners in Policymaking program, Kylie began her career as an advocate for the disability community.

  • In 2011, Kylie created a self-advocacy program for service provider, Great Prospects Inc. in Roswell GA, in which she established a process for young adults with developmental disabilities to improve self-advocacy, communication and real world job skills.

  • Also in 2011, Kylie was appointed as a Self-Advocate expert of the Georgia LEND program. She was also asked to sit on the board of the National Youth Leadership Network and the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities.

  • In 2013, Kylie created the Ambassador Program for service provider All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD), where Kylie took her advocacy ideas further to create a leadership program to help young people with developmental disabilities become leaders and role models in their respective communities.

  • In 2018, when AADD merged with The Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI), Kylie became the provider’s top clinical expert and curriculum evaluator. Most recently, Kylie was invited to represent BDI at the 2019 Source America Grassroots Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C..

Congratulations, Kylie! We are so grateful for your leadership and passion to help others.

COVID-19 UPDATE

March 16, 2020 — Based on recent CDC announcements and social distancing initiatives due to the COVID-19 situation and to help protect the health of the Titan Community, their families and caregivers, and the many others involved with Champions Community Foundation, we have made the following decisions:

  1. Titans Scrimmage and Social Events — CANCELLED — We have cancelled all upcoming scrimmages and events through May 1. We will update  Events on the website and we will also let you know when activities and events resume.

  2. Move-in date — DELAYED — We feel the earliest move-in date we could consider is June 1.  As the COVID -19 situation develops the coming weeks, we may need to delay this date even further into the summer.

Stay safe and healthy!
